Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Willy
We adopted Willy from ARF in November 2004. He was a very gentle and loving pet. He loved everyone except dogs that were bigger than him. He loved his walks and did not like to be left alone when we went shopping. Willy became ill and was sick for about a year but he did not let it bother him until one day when I went to pet him. Willy let me know that he was not well but he was still happy to have his food and treats!

Willy was put to sleep on February 8th of this year. It was the hardest thing for me to do but I did it for Willy. We miss him very much and things are just not the same without him in our lives. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt Willy. He is forever in our hearts!

Thank you, Barb Golembiski

Millie
When we decided to get a dog, I really knew nothing more than how much I wanted a puppy. Thankfully for all us, I managed to pick the very best Border Collie puppy ever! Millie pretty much had to train us. She let us know if you’re a softie and you bring a brand new puppy into bed because she’s crying, she’s going to thank you by peeing all over that bed; she taught us that if you feel badly about locking her in a cage so you give her a bedroom, she’ll enjoy not only the books in the room but even part of the bookshelf; she taught us that no matter how many times you leave your eyeglasses on the coffee table, she would never grow bored of chewing them. Millie also taught us that she loved us so much, she would somehow know the day we were returning from a trip and would sit at the front door waiting for us. She taught us that no matter how much an old dog could hurt, nothing can stop them from staying close to their humans. She taught us dogs could be critics as she hated her Mom to sing and would bark loudly if her Dad danced. She taught us that dogs could smile.

Millie made us all laugh with her incredible volleyball skills and was always the first to show up if you were sad. She’d give hugs and kisses when you asked for them and lots of times when she just thought you needed them. People who were scared of dogs came to trust and love Millie as just looking into her eyes; you could see how big her heart was. Our love for Millie will continue in every life we help ARF save.

If I could say one more thing to my Millie, it would be: “Millie, I sure wasn’t the smartest dog person in the world but I can promise you that no dog was ever loved more than you. Thank you for your patience with me, your love, and your trust. Thank you too for helping me to raise and to protect my two-legged babies. See you at the bridge.”

Benson
Benson's life was not long enough, but each day was overflowing with his larger than life personality and huge heart.
Very missed by his adoptive mom and by his ARF foster Mom"

ONYX
We would be honored to have our big gentle giant remembered. We do miss this guy so much. We miss him greeting us at the door every day with his bone in his mouth and wouldn't leave us alone until we said "Nice bone Onyx" and then he'd take the bone and chew on it on his blanket, he also would sit beside us and if we didn't pay attention to him when he thought we should he'd raise his big paw and place it on our arm or leg and look at us for some lovins.
He loved his walks and melted over his praises but most of all he was a treat connoisseur. Boy we miss him.

KEESHA (Baby Doll) 'B' Wilson
In memory of Keesha her family has chosen to coordinate a fundraising event for ARF. Many lives will be saved, suffering eased, thanks to their efforts. Visit ARF’s “Giving is Contagious” page.

Our kind natured Keeshond has left a lasting impression on so many people. Keesha in her fifteen years, was a good natured and sensitive soul.
Everyone who was fortunate in meeting Keesha, all felt such joy and heartfelt warmth. She was sensitive, giving and intuitive and knew exactly when to lay her head on your lap or give kisses of comfort.
Keesha was fit! Her vet once remarked that she had the strongest legs that he had ever seen. She loved her daily runs in the park, a belly rub, her after dinner treats (especially pig ears, chicken strips and rollover), and curling up for the night on her favourite duvet comforter. Winter was her prized season. She was the epitome of a snow dog, and knew when it was time to jump up on the snowmobile or toboggan.
Not a real fan of peas or car rides, she did appreciate the cottage destination north in the summer. Swimming in the lake and wandering the woods made her most happy. Keesha was also the most unselfish and generous animal. She often “fed” her little “brother” with kibble one mouthful at a time.
Even until her last day with us, people would comment “Oh what a cute puppy” “She is so beautiful” “What kind of dog is that?” “Can we pat her?”
Keesha, our precious companion has left a special place within our hearts. We feel so fortunate and grateful for her life with us. Thank you for giving us the best years of our lives baby doll!
Keesha is truly our earth angel.
Sadly missed and forever remembered and loved in our hearts,
Keesha’s Family
