EXCITING NEWS:
All canine adoptions include FIVE FREE Training 101 seminars with ARF’s “AWESOME DOGS” behavioural consultant (held at her facility in Dorchester) to encourage responsible positive reinforcement training. Adult canines may also opt to receive one session with AWESOME DOGS to address training options. We want all of our wonderful canines to stay in permanent loving homes and our Training Sessions will help us all see that happens!

All in-coming rescues are quarantined for 72 hrs. During this time they are dewormed ("Strongid") & treated for other internal /external parasites ("Revolution"). They are then taken to the veterinarian for their initial vaccinations and a rabies shot (+12 weeks old) and a general check-up. Adult canines get a heartworm test. Heartworm exists in our area of rescue & we strongly recommend follow-up screening & preventatives. Puppies are tested for the parvovirus. ALL ARF dogs are microchipped before adoption.

Adoption Fees :

Un-altered dog ( under 5 months) = $275
Altered dog (+ 5 months) = $275

All CANINE adoptions – regardless of dog’s age - include Training 101 seminars with ARF's "Awesome Dogs" behavioural consultant (held in Dorchester Ontario) to encourage & instruct responsible positive reinforcement training. We want all of our wonderful canines to stay in permanent loving homes and our Training Sessions will help us all see that happens! Out of town adopters: please be prepared to source your own local training classes OR return for ARF’s classes – either way class attendance is a part of your adoption contract.

The adoption fees certainly do not cover the majority of an in-coming rescue's medical costs. Our creatures are true rescues and need more than your average pet's Vet care in order to get them healthy again. We do everything we possibly can to be sure we are adopting out a healthy, well-adjusted animal. Please be assured that 100% of the adoption fee goes directly towards furthering the rescue efforts of The Animal Rescue Foundation.

WHEN YOU APPLY TO ADOPT: Your application should be thorough, the more info we have the better we can assist. You should receive a response thanking you for your application WITHIN 48 HOURS of sending it. This is to confirm the receipt only. If the foster family of the animal you are applying for wishes to consider a meeting then an adoption coordinator will e-mail you to request a telephone interview. Only those applicants proceeding to a telephone interview will be contacted after the initial application-receipt e-mail.
Please allow approx. 48 hours to arrange a telephone interview and (if all are in agreement that an in-person meeting should be arranged) the foster home will contact you to arrange the in-person meeting.

Upon ARF receiving your adoption questionnaire if a telephone interview is to be scheduled you will be replied to , by e-mail, within 48hours by our volunteer adoption coordinator. Due to the high volume of applications we receive and answer on a volunteer basis we must limit our responses to applicants that we are requesting further interviews with ONLY.
