Spoiler alert! ARF dog Texas is going to steal your heart the first time you set eyes on him. This amorous ‘tri-pawed’ came into ARF’s care after sustaining an injury that meant his back leg would need to be amputated. Fast forward through some awesome vet care and TLC at his foster home, and Tex is ready to greet the world. Being basically still a pup, he has done very well with housetraining and learning to sleep in his crate at night or when his humans go out during the day for short periods. He is living in foster care with 2 adults and a couple of dog-savvy kids, aged 4 and 8. Although super friendly with all he meets, Tex is a large dog so happy visitors should be steady on their feet and ready to receive face licks and love nibbles. Because Tex navigates his world on 3 legs, he has to take his time on stairs, however very little actually holds him back. He is well-behaved on the short walks that he has enjoyed, with the hope that these can continue daily. A yard would be lovely for Tex to explore and keep him safe. He has also enjoyed the company of his foster home’s resident pooch.
Texas is all set to interview his forever family, and is looking forward to them continuing his training using positive reinforcement techniques only. Tex is a happy-go-lucky family dog that likes to snuggle and show off his goofy side.
