Kai is a smart, calm, and curious one-year-old dog who adores his people. He has a remarkably human‑like desire to watch and observe everything happening around him, taking in the world with quiet interest and thoughtful attention. He is an intelligent, eager learner who already knows sit, watch, touch, and lie down, and he is making great progress with stay. His off‑leash recall is excellent.

Kai is the definition of a Velcro dog. He bonds closely with one primary person in the home and loves being near his people, following his person from room to room and wanting to be part of every routine. Because of this strong attachment, when Kai’s forever family chooses him, his transition will be a slow, supported process involving multiple visits and gradually lengthening stays. This slow and gentle approach will help him build trust, feel secure, and understand that he is safe with his new people.

On leash, Kai walks beautifully. Kai loves walks! A securely fenced backyard is essential for Kai, as he loves surveying his land through sniffing, getting silly with zoomies, and chewing sticks. He enjoys fetching balls, exploring, and playing in a space where he feels safe and confident. Kai also enjoys interacting and playing with other dogs and would benefit from a playful dog companion at home.

After his exercise and play needs are met, Kai settles nicely and loves relaxing with his humans. He enjoys lounging after a long walk, settling beside his humans, working on lick mats, and chewing bones, especially in a calm environment where he can focus and feel comfortable. He is fully house‑trained and does well with his foster family, who work outside the home Monday through Friday.

Kai currently lives with adults and older teenagers, but he also spends almost daily time with his foster family’s nieces, ages 5 and 7. They hug him, play with him, and include him in their games, and Kai adores them. His gentle nature shines in these interactions.

Kai will thrive with a confident adopter who wants a loyal, one‑on‑one Velcro companion, enjoys training, and can provide a consistent, structured routine. A calm environment will help him continue building confidence while deepening the bond with his person or people.
